"Great design requires experience, creativity, and the ability to make it work"

Betsy Brawley, president of Design Concepts Unlimited, is an interior designer who specializes in designing interior environments for aging adults, including those with Alzheimer's disease. With more than thirty years experience as a designer and consultant for healthcare projects nationwide, Betsy brings a wealth of personal experience, knowledge and awareness to her clients, with project credits ranging from CCRC's, assisted living, skilled nursing, adult day health care, to Alzheimer's special care settings.

The personal experience of her mother's battle with the devastating effects of Alzheimer's disease reshaped a thriving residential interior design career into one now focused on applying the same elements of good design to enhance healthcare settings. Her passion for exploring innovative design solutions has resulted in better support for many individuals as they age and emphasizes the value of daylight and designs for therapeutic gardens.

Betsy has gained national recognition as an expert and industry leader in the area of environmental design for aging. She is the author of Design Innovations for Aging and Alzheimer's - Creating Caring Environments (2006) and was awarded the 1998 Polsky Prize for outstanding contributions to research in environment for Designing for Alzheimer's Disease: Strategies for Creating Better Care Environments. She is a frequent contributor to research and professional publications.
